Brief CV 

Maria Douka is a social worker and Lecturer in the Department of Social Work since 2008. She holds a BA in Social Policy and Social Anthropology from Panteion University and two postgraduate degrees: a) in Social Policy and Social Work from the University of York, England and b) in Health Services Studies (Health Administration) from the University of Leeds.  She had worked at TEI Athens since 1996 in the field of supervision of PT. In 2013-2014, she was granted sabbatical leave and moved to the University of York, where she worked with the university’s research department on social policy issues. She has also trained in child and adolescent psychoanalytic psychotherapy and Systemic Family Therapy. She worked at the Hellenic Centre for Mental Health and Research, with people with mental health problems, counselling, family interventions, individual psychotherapy and psychosocial rehabilitation. Her research interests include health and mental health, social policy, older people, organisation and management of services, child and adult care services and social research methods. At TEI of Athens, she participated in the NSRF programme concerning student placements, as well as in the Erasmus programme, where has lectured at the University of Lancaster and Sheffield, UK. She has also taken part in international conferences where she has presented her research work. Since the year 2016-17, she is participating in the postgraduate programme of the Department of Social Work “Social Work with Children and Adolescents”. She is a member of SKLE and the Hellenic Society for Health Services Management and Mental Health Innovation Network.
