Brief CV

Sophia Martinaki is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Social Work MSc, PhD, PostDoc at the Department of Social Work. She is also a research associate at the 1st  Psychiatric Clinic of the University of Athens – Eginitio Hospital where she worked from 1990 until she took up her new duties as a faculty member.

During the years 2014-2018 she taught at the Department of Social Work of TEI of Athens and from 2018-2022 she taught as adjunct academic staff at the Department of Social Work of University of West Attica. She has taught in a postgraduate program of TEI of Crete and continues to teach in postgraduate programs of the Medical School of National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and the Medical School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

She has been trained in Cognitive Psychotherapy and Trauma Therapy with the EMDR method.

Her writing work includes books, editing of collective volumes, translations and editing of books, some of which are higher education textbooks. Also she has several scientific publications in magazines and collective volumes  . She participates in international and Greek conferences and workshops. She is a reviewer for the Psychiatry Research, Frontriers in Psychiatry journals.

For her professional work she has received praise from the Ministry of Education (Government Gazette 217/05-02-2013), while for her scientific work she has been awarded at the 28th Panhellenic Conference of Psychiatry (2020) and at the 6th European Conference for Social Work Research (2016). She is a member of scientific societies, as well as organizing, scientific committees of conferences and workshops.
