Brief CV 

Vagioula Tsoutsi is a Social Worker, she holds a Master’s degree (MSc) in Mental Health Promotion – Prevention of Psychiatric Disorders and a PhD by the Medical School of National Kapodistrian University of Athens. She is currently working as a Researcher at the Sleep Research Unit, First Department of Psychiatry, Eginition Hospital, where she is responsible for the organization and management of a research project in the frame of HORIZON-HLTH-2021-CARE-05 [Ensuring access to innovative, sustainable and high-quality health care (2021)]. She is also scientific collaborator of the First Department of Psychiatry, Eginition Hospital, and of theLaboratory Health and Road Safety at the Department of Social Work of the Hellenic Mediterranean University. She conducts original research into the impact of psychiatric illness, road safety, sleep disorders and family relationships. She has taught in the postgraduate study program “Interdisciplinary Management of Chronic Diseases, Disability and Aging” of the Hellenic Mediterranean University in which she continues teaching as well as in other programs. From October 2022 she taught as an Academic Fellow in undergraduate students of the Department of Social Work of University of West Atticathe course Practice placement with Supervision 1and 2.

She has worked for a number of years as a Social Worker in the field of mental health providing psychosocial support to vulnerable groups.

Since 2020 she works for the National Psychosocial Telephone Helpline«10306» providing support and direction, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

She has worked for five years in a Municipal Social Services Department (2012 – 2019) providing psychosocial support and counselling to vulnerable social groups (i.e., mentally ill, refugees, migrants, minors, homeless etc.). There she conducted Social Surveys in order to include beneficiaries in Social Programs andin Social Structures of the Municipality (Social Grocery, “Housing and Reintegration” Program, Social Pharmacy, Reduction of Municipal Taxes, etc.). In addition, she was responsible for the inclusion of beneficiaries in welfare and social solidarity benefits.In cooperation with the Legal Authorities, she was responsible for child protection, for the detection and management of domestic violence, neglect and abuse and for referrals for psychiatric assessment. In this context, she conducted Social Surveys of living conditions of minors and adults, with the aim of ensuring a safe living environment.

She is among the authors of eight peer-reviewed publications in Greek and international scientific journals (4 full publications, 3 of which she is the first author and 4 abstracts).She has participated in Greek and International Conferences with oral and poster presentations and has been awarded with the prize for the best poster presentation at the Panhellenic Conference on Health Promotion and Health Education for her presentation: “Risk factors for the reception of harassment and bullying behaviours in the workplace”.

She is a member of the Hellenic Association of Social Workers since 2012.
